About us
What began as a small idea hatched by a few students in the garden of the Kunstverein Braunschweig has grown into an integral part of the city’s cultural life: a place where classic films, favourite films and hidden gems are screened under the open sky – and it’s free for everyone.
The Summer Cinema was launched in 2012 as a project by media studies students at the HBK Braunschweig. The positive response led to the formation of an association the following year. Since then, a dedicated team of volunteers has been organising screenings of cult films and classics on the big screen every summer – as an alternative to traditional cinema theatres.
